Parent Association
We Need You!
The Parent Association (PA) takes a very active role in the events and projects at PCS. The PA is made up of parents from the total school (K-12) who want to support the school in meeting the needs of the teachers, student, and families. These parents act as class reps for very class from Grade K-7, as well as 3 or 4 from the Secondary School and represent the PA at our events at the school including Parent seminars, Grandparents’ day, Pastors’ day, and a host of others.
PA in the Community
David Turner, a resident of Kenneth St. is looking for support on an initiative to improve the safety of pedestrians, especially children and cyclists. His efforts are focused along the Raymond St N - Bremerton Ave "Corridor" and at the crossing of connector roads (such as Judah, Agnes and Kenneth) which often have busy traffic and/or limited or no sidewalks and sometimes no crosswalks.
Raymond St N - Bremerton Ave "Corridor" is a great alternative to travelling along either Carey Rd or Glandford Ave as it runs from McKenzie all the way to Vanalman. However, as it stands now on Raymond St N there are no crosswalks, sidewalks, or any kind of signage for trail users or motorists despite this area being recognized by Saanich as a Municipal and Connector Trail(s).
David has had overwhelmingly positive response from the neighbourhood and from council. Since there is a proposed plan to fix Glandford over the next 5 years, if the neighbourhood voices are heard during the development phases it is foreseeable that the improvement of Raymond St N could happen concurrently; it would be very little extra effort when compared to the entire project.
David has drafted a letter that can be sent directly to the committee or to David (see attached). Another way to review this proposal is to click on www.raymondcorridor.com.
The simple act of filling in and signing this letter could lead to the improved safety of pedestrians including our PCS students who are cycling/walking to school.
Thank you for your support!
