Medical Insurance

When students arrive in Canada, they will need to have medical insurance. Before a student can qualify for participation in the British Columbia Medical Services Plan, they must live in British Columbia for three months. This means students will need to obtain Interim Medical Insurance.

Interim Medical Insurance may be purchased from any company, however, there is a local company Strategic Financial Services, (endorsed by the Society of Christian Schools in BC) which can serve student needs. You can check their website for details, but in order to acquire coverage, you have to contact the International Program Coordinator, Mr. John Slofstra, and he will work with Strategic Financial Services to set up a medical plan.

BC Medical Services Plan
Once a student has lived in British Columbia for three consecutive months, they may apply to the British Columbia Medical Services Plan for medical coverage. To acquire the application form visit the web site www.health.gov.bc/msp/ or phone them at 250-386-7171, (alternate number: 250-382-8406). You can also visit them at 1515 Blanshard St., Victoria. The application form is directly available here --->

Need Assistance?
Should a student wish assistance in finding either interim insurance or applying to the BC Medical Services Plan, they can make arrangements for Pacific Christian to obtain the necessary medical coverage for the student. This service will be done for an annual fee of $750.00CA, and will cover the application process and payments for one year.
