Grad 2011 News and Updates
Graduation Ceremony & Celebration
The year-end graduation ceremony and activities will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011. Please note that this is one day later than originally listed on the school calendar.
Important Dates:
| June 15: |
PCS Secondary Awards Evening at the Victoria CRC (church beside the school). This is an evening of awards and celebration to honour students who have excelled in athletic, academic, artistic & technical pursuits. In the past, these awards have been given out at an assembly on the last day of classes, but we are moving to an evening format. We hope this will enable more parents to attend. |
| June 29: |
8:00 – 9:00 PM MANDATORY rehearsal for all grads at Glad Tidings Church. It is very important that grads attend this rehearsal so that they understand how the ceremony will proceed. Parents do not need to attend the rehearsal. Please note this time change! |
| June 30: |
2:30 PM Grads assemble at Glad Tidings Church for the GRADUATION RECOGNITION CEREMONY. The ceremony will begin at 3:00 PM, but it is very important that Grads arrive early, as they need to line up for the processional. |
For the processional, many students choose to walk with a parent. Traditionally, most students choose the parent of the opposite sex. However, please note that this is just what ‘traditionally’ happens – it is NOT mandated by the school. The students may choose to walk alone or with another person of support in their lives. Anyone accompanying a grad in the processional should also arrive at Glad Tidings by 2:30 PM.
Glad Tidings sent us the following note about parking:
As our lots are run by Robbins Parking and therefore used by many, we are not able to supply parking. Those attending the grad will have to arrive early in order to find parking in the area. Street parking on North Park is 2hrs. The Save-on-Foods Arena lot has paid parking as does the City of Victoria lot by Royal Athletic Park on Caledonia. Sands Funeral Home across the street on Quadra had a paid parking lot.
The Ceremony at Glad Tidings is a free event open to all supporters of the grads.
The events after the Ceremony have been organized parents of the Grad class. Many thanks to Arleen Raper for leading the parent committee this year and to all who have pitched in to help. You should have received information via email (from Arleen Raper) that included an attached timeline of events on June 30.
